10 April 2026 – from Sestri Levante (Liguria, Italy) – route & photos
For a day outside of the Cinque Terre region, a hike on the Punta Manara triangular promontory, leading to the remains of the Saracen tower overlooking the sea and nearby villages. A varied route, ranging from sandy and rocky paths to woodland trails. -
9 April 2026 – from Manarola to Corniglia (Cinque Terre, Italy) – route & photos
Steep ascent up stairs from Manarola to Volastra, followed by pleasant, flat paths with views over the sea and surrounding villages, and a final descent to sea level towards Corniglia (on trails 502, 586 and 587). -
8 April 2026 – from Monterosso to Corniglia (Cinque Terre, Italy) – route & photos
On the popular and well-maintained (with an entry fee enforced checkpoints!) Sentiero Verde Azzurro, this hike starts with many stairs up and down (mostly up) – unlike the more rugged, less-maintained paths found elsewhere in the Cinque Terre. After reaching the midpoint (Vernazza), the route continues with elevation changes, but also flatter sections with good views of the sea. -
7 April 2026 – from Monterosso to Levanto (Cinque Terre, Italy) – route & photos
After an ascent via roads, stairs, and rocky sections, the hike reaches a viewpoint overlooking Monterosso and the ruins of the Sant’Antonio del Mesco church. The second half continues inland along sandy and rocky paths, with occasional sea views. -
6 April 2026 – from Framura to Levanto (Liguria, Italy) – route & photos
From Framura train station, the route climbs along scenic trails alternating between short wooded sections and open stretches with sea views, reaching Bonassola. It then continues through pedestrian- and cyclist-only tunnels, offering a cool and refreshing passage to the coastal town of Levanto. -
5 April 2026 – from La Spezia (Liguria, Italy) – route & photos
Starting from La Spezia Centrale station, this loop follows the CAI 225 and 521 trails, with well-defined paths and clear views over the valley. -
4 April 2026 – from Porto Venere to Riomaggiore (Cinque Terre, Italy) – route & photos
A steep route from Porto Venere to Riomaggiore, mostly along the Alta Via delle Cinque Terre (AV5T), then along the Sentiero Verde Azzurro 593 (SVA 593). Immediately after the harbour, stairs and rocky sections lead on to uphill paths, particularly demanding up to Campiglia. The second part follows more established trails with significant elevation changes and great sea views towards Riomaggiore. -

A flat route starting from the River Main, passing through woods and past ponds, near the Frankfurt Airport runways, with good plane-spotting locations. -

A route to the Großer Feldberg (Taunus) mountain, departing from Frankfurt. The route begins with several kilometres across fields before climbing into the hills and mountains, leading to a great viewpoint over the region. -

From Schmitten to Großer Feldberg, the highest point in the Taunus mountain range, at 879 m above sea level.
The route passes through mountain forest for most of its length, making it ideal for a long hike. -

A Taunus loop, connecting Kronberg, Bad Soden, and Königstein, hiking through woods and hills, with river crossings along the way.
The hike includes challenging portions off established paths. -

A pleasant hike easily reached via S-Bahn (S3, S4), mostly flat, featuring the Jacobiweiher pond and lovely wooden bridges along the way. -

From Hohemark (U-Bahn U3), a popular starting point for Taunus walks and hikes.
A fairly demanding, steep hike, with the first kilometres through forest, before the route continues uphill, opening up to beautiful views. -
20 April 2020 – from Dietzenbach – route & photos
A long but mostly flat route from Dietzenbach station, alternating between urban areas, forests, meadows, and farmland. The initial urban section is followed by more pleasant natural surroundings.
